The National Athlete of the Year Awards are voted upon by member coaches following the conclusion of the season’s championships. The awards are given to the leading vote getter in each category. In 2006, the USTFCCCA began recognizing the top performers on the track and in the field. Prior to that, the US Track Coaches Association, awarded only the top overall athlete regardless of event area accomplishments.
