2021 NCAA DI Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3

NEW ORLEANS – As the outdoor season powers on, teams continue to climb the latest edition of the NCAA Division I Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index, which was released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.

No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Southern California and No. 3 Texas each maintained their respective rankings from a week ago. For the Tigers, this is their third straight week atop the National TFRI. Tonea Marshall headlined the Tigers after extending her national lead in the 100H with a wind-aided 12.70. Symone Mason added to LSU’s haul of top-10 marks, tying teammate Thelma Davies for the No. 6 time in the 100 at 11.21.
No. 4 Texas A&M traded places with No. 5 Arkansas. The Aggies had a big weekend from Tyra Gittens, who posted the national leading score in the heptathlon with 6274 points and the fifth best long jump of the year (6.67mw/21-10¾). Those marks go nicely with her national leading clearance in the high jump of 1.90m (6-2¾). The Aggies’ 4×400 also improved to No. 2 on the season with a time of 3:26.73.
Lauren Martinez paced the Razorbacks this past weekend with an improvement upon her No. 5 clearance in the pole vault (4.33m/14-2 ½). Arkansas’ 4×100 also clocked the No. 11 time in their first run of the year.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 3: No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 BYU and No. 10 Auburn. Georgia was one of two teams that made the biggest move in the National TFRI. The Bulldogs soared 29 spots from No. 35 following several top-2 nationally ranked performances from the Spec Towns Invitational, one of them being an improved national lead in the javelin by Marie-Therese Obst (61.37m/201-4).
Two other teams made significant improvements in the National TFRI. No. 17 Duke gained 13 spots from No. 30, while No. 18 Arizona climbed 29 spots from its previous ranking of No. 47.
The 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held from June 9-12 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
